Sports Performance Training – Athletes Acceleration

Spring 2022 Player Skills Clinics

New to Mansfield Youth Soccer for the 2022 Spring is our Skills Specific Training Program!  Working with our Director of Coaching, MYS is pleased to offer several options for soccer training and development.  This is being offered to MYS Players 2nd – 8th Grade.

Flexibility is key these days and we want to support our families and their needs.  This program gives you the control of which training sessions your child would like to attend!  Families can choose to register for the full program, partial programming and/or skill specific training.  All sessions will be lead by Aaron Salter, MYS Director of Coaching.

All Six Weeks – This full program offers 2 training sessions per week with organized skills training and small sided game play.

Dribbling only (4 sessions –  weeks 1&2) – The dribbling skills for this program aim to help your players in running with the ball at their feet and beating players with their skill.  This is a core soccer skill and we look at the fine details of the techniques required to dribble like Messi, Pulisic or Ronaldo. We will have games and exercises to help your players improve as dribblers.

Passing & Receiving only (4 sessions – weeks 3&4) – Keeping possession is the key to competing and winning. The best passing teams usually dictate the play of a game, conserve energy, and make the best of their chances to score more goals. Passing is about technique, decision making and vision. Long passing, short passing, side foot passing, and crossing will all be reviewed and introduced. We also have great passing games to really sharpen your players’ passing skills.

Shooting & Finishing only (4 sessions – weeks 5&6) – Our coaches will utilize shooting activities to enhance your players’ ability to beat the goalkeeper from many different game scenarios, positions and angles. Shooting/Finishing is a core soccer skill for every player, and we have some great ways to teach it. We will focus on shooting while running, shooting first time, drive shots and how to make the ball bend, curl and maybe even a “dip”. We have great finishing/shooting activities and games to help our players develop these skills.

Weekly Field Lining (Spring 2022)

We need your help!  Each week, after the fields are mowed by the Town, we need to re-line the fields and get them ready for Saturday games.  If you can spare an hour or two to help during the season, please sign-up here:  Volunteer Link
